These are some pictures of the special services operated between Newcastle
and Hexham on the Newcastle-Carlisle line on the occasion of the 150th
anniversary of the line in the mid-1980s. Featured motive power is Standard
class 9F 2-10-0 "Evening Star" 92220 (the last steam locomotive built by
British Rail) and Brush Type 2 A1A-A1A class 31 diesel-electic no 31191 in
rail blue. The passenger stock is all blue-grey mk1s.
